Find Your Story: Developing Concepts, Characters, and Story Arcs for the Screen

Do you have a story inside you, just waiting to be told? In this intimate, twelve-person workshop, Carmilla writer Jordan Hall will help you explore the character dynamics, thematic choices, and plot turns that go into crafting an unforgettable story for the screen. Come prepared to push core conflicts, dig deep into character relationships, and engage creatively with audience expectations. Learn how to build the story engines and narrative rollercoasters you’ve always loved, and leave with personalized feedback to help you along on your own writing adventure!

 

Participants will be asked to submit a one-two page proposal for their project in advance of the workshop.

Improv For Confidence Building

Price: $200 USD

 

Meet new people and explore your creativity with this workshop lead by Canadian actress, host, and writer Natasha Negovanlis (Carmilla, CLAIREvoyant, Freelancers Anonymous). In this hour long session, Natasha will lead standard warmups and games used by both amateur and professional improv comedians, and walk you through gentle exercises to help you gain confidence and get out of your comfort zone. Through the playfulness of this medium, you’ll improve your listening and team-building skills and discover that laughter really is the best medicine!

Unlocking your Creative Core

Price: $200 USD

Unlock your creative prowess in this fun, dynamic workshop with Elise! Whether you are an actor, an accountant, or an astronaut, we all have the potential to live a creatively fulfilled life. Work through exercises and activities aimed at revealing your creative desires, collage a mini vision board, test the limits of creating under time-constraints and leave with tangible goals and practices to bring with you outside the classroom. Leave feeling inspired, encouraged, and perhaps a little silly.

When should I arrive to the Workshop?


Please arrive 15 minutes before your session.




Do I need a CarmillaCon pass to purchase a Workshop ticket?


Yes, you must have a CarmillaCon pass to purchase and participate in a Workshop. Only ticket holders with a valid badge may attend.




Do I need to bring my ticket to my Workshop?


Yes, you’ll need to present both your CarmillaCon badge and either a printed copy of your Workshopticket or an e-ticket on a mobile device.




How long is the Workshop?


Each session will last 60 minutes.




Can Baby Creampuffs attend a Workshop?


Yes, with a valid badge and Workshop ticket in their name. “Baby Creampuffs” must also be accompanied by an adult with their own individual CarmillaCon badge and separate Workshop ticket.




Can I take photos and ask for autographs during my Workshop?


No photos/selfies or autographs will be permitted during Workshop.




Can I bring a gift to my Workshop?


No, please do not bring gifts for the guests during Workshop.




Are Workshop tickets refundable?


Workshop tickets are non-refundable, but they are transferable.




How many fans will be at the Workshop?


Maximum attendance will be capped at 24 fans per session.
